Context
Working across projects creates scattered documentation, conversations and priorities. An assistant needs relevant context to help with a change, while the resulting code still needs a review and release process.
My contribution
- Built a React/TypeScript workspace with Fastify/PostgreSQL services, project access controls and persistent conversations.
- Connected a versioned project knowledge base, GitHub information and priorities to a VPS-hosted Hermes assistant.
- Integrated code execution in isolated Docker environments, automated validation and draft pull requests, with merge and deployment kept as separate actions.
Engineering decisions
Make context persistent and project-specific
Project documentation and conversation history provide continuity between requests. Access controls preserve the boundaries between project membership and private conversations.
Isolate code execution
Code work runs in a dedicated Docker environment. The controller handles GitHub publication outside the agent’s terminal, keeping execution and publication responsibilities separate.
Deliver a change for review
The workflow produces a draft pull request and validation output. Generating code is one stage; merging and publishing it remain distinct decisions. This creates a concrete result to inspect before release.
Validation
- Automated validation runs in the isolated execution environment before a successful delivery is reported.
- The UI exposes the resulting change and its status for review.
- My personal workflow includes checking the application UI and GitHub changes, then checking production against main after an approved release.
Outcome
Delivered a private workspace that connects project context and persistent conversations to an inspectable code-change workflow. Its value is the continuity between the request, the work performed and the result available for review.
